Day 8 – Navarette to Azofra

Day 8 – Navarette to Azofra

May 21, 2015

Walked with my buddy Kurt today, who has not only walked the Camino before but written a book about it called A Million Steps. Kurt is about 6 foot 5 inches tall with legs up to his armpits. I figure he could have done the Camino in about three good long steps  but I didn’t say anything. He has not only met but worked with the lady who produced the awesome documentary Six Ways to Santiago and therefore is a Camino god.

I asked him about what his impressions were of the different sections of the trail. He likened the Camino to the different stages in life. In the first part you are like an excited teenager figuring everything out and making the mistakes you learn from. In the middle you are in a groove that works but it can get a bit mundane at times. If I continue with this analogy I guess it means that I will spend the final part of the Camino using a walker and virtually incontinent. Oh wait, I’m already there!

I have now walked over 200 km. By the time you join me, mi amiga, I will be hitting middle age. You can inject some youth into my stride.
